Bah-da-bum, bah-da-bum, strum, strum, Do-re-mi-fa-so….those are some of the sounds you’ll hear from our new Melody Tent this summer!
Some of you with campers here for our 1st session may have noticed something new on your child’s group schedule. We are very excited to announce that, based in part on recent parent feedback, we are introducing a new Music specialty program for most of our groups this summer (our youngest campers will have music as part of our Theater Arts program). Campers will have the opportunity to learn group songs and chants, be introduced to a variety of music styles, learn how to drum and find their inner superstar!
Our Music Specialty Head Leah Ginsky recently moved from California where she spent the past three summers teaching music in camps. She received a degree in Music from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and spent last year as a Music Educator in a variety of California schools through the program Music for Minors. She plays the guitar, flute, ukulele, and a variety of percussion instruments.
Our new drumming curriculum was developed by Adam Issadore of Path to Rhythm (www.pathtorhythm.com). He leads groups in drumming in schools, camps, and corporate settings. We are thrilled to be collaborating with him in this exciting new program.
We can’t wait to share video clips with you this summer of our campers as they develop their musical skills!
As Julie Andrews might say, “Deerkill is alive with the sound of music…”
We’ll see you soon with bells on,
Todd and Rebecca
