Deerkill is not just a wonderful place for children. It has also been the summer home for our counselors, many of whom return year after year to the sense of community they find here. When you become a Deerkill counselor, you join a special group of people who have chosen to spend their summers teaching and laughing with our campers.
“My time spent with the group of five year old boys gave me a fresh direction. I had become inspired by working with young children so closely. Returning to Deerkill each summer only furthered my desire to become a teacher…the years have accumulated and I still sit here today, as a tenured veteran teacher, anticipating my 16th summer as a group leader.” ~ Mike
At Deerkill, each staff member plays a pivotal role in shaping our summer community and each counselor’s contributions are valued. Our doors are always open and we welcome new ideas for how we can improve our campers’ and counselors’ experience here at camp. Please also visit the “Staff” section of our Photo Gallery to see photos of our staff in action and learn the true secret of why our staff return year after year (hint: they’re all smiling!).
